UK indie producer and publisher B7 Media, has announced a new audio drama co-production DILATION with Par-sec Productions.

From the creative team who produced the acclaimed audio dramatisations of Dan Dare, Isaac Asimov’s I, Robot and Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles… B7 Media have teamed up with Max Hochrad’s Par-sec Productions to co-produce an original 90-minute sci-fi thriller, Dilation.

“When we were first approached by Par-sec Productions we were immediately struck by the originality of writer/director Max Hochrad’s work. For us Dilation reflected the production values that have become the hallmark of B7 Media’s audio dramas. Immersive drama, creating environments that sound real and lived-in,” says B7 Media’s Executive Producer, Andrew Mark Sewell.

Dilation revolves around a gifted scientist AMANDA HIGGS (Sioned Jones). Missing for over 40 years she mysteriously reappears, revealing her invention from the past, a device designed to solve the world’s energy problems. But the UK now is an unfamiliar, dangerous and fragmented country controlled by the Forman Corporation. Amanda’s only hope for survival is by confronting her controversial past. But who can she trust before it’s too late?

Sewell adds; “Max Hochrad has crafted a disturbing near future thriller. A talented yet comparatively unknown cast help to pull you into a story that combines concepts of time travel with a modern political thriller, delivering a truly fresh take on the genre. Suffice to say we look forward to future collaborations with Max and his talented team at Par-sec.”

In fact, one of the themes that crept in was isolation, both personal and political, which, I believe, reflects the current political climate. DILATION (Synopsis)

Sometimes it doesn’t matter how clever you are at running away, your past always manages to catch up with you… Missing for over 40-years, gifted scientist AMANDA HIGGS (Sioned Jones) mysteriously reappears in London, revealing her invention from the past – a device designed to solve the world’s energy problems. But this is not a country she recognises; it’s a dangerous and fragmented state, seemingly controlled by the Forman Corporation.
Alone, confused and afraid, her only hope for survival is if she can find a way to jump forward to a safer place, but she soon realises that this will only be possible by confronting her distant past. But the journey into her past sets off a chain of events that inevitably leads to an explosive confrontation with the Forman Corporation. It also sets her on a trail to find her missing partner TOM, whose child she’s also shocked to discover she’s carrying.

Amanda’s invention has the potential to disrupt the future of the whole world, but she’s a confused woman in a strange world, with seemingly one ally, a social misfit MARNIE (Rebecca Ross). As Forman close the net around her, Amanda learns that sometimes you have to step backwards, before you can jump forward. But who can she really trust with her secret before it’s too late?
