B7 Productions has announced the online launch of hitherto unreleased recordings made by comedy great John Le Mesurier. Recorded shortly before his death, British actor John Le Mesurier, known best to comedy lovers as Sergeant Wilson in the hit BBC sitcom Dad’s Army, would probably have been amazed to discover that even from beyond the grave he was keeping bang up to date with new technology, as he starts podcasting his audio book of Robert Duncan’s Once Upon A World.
First published in paperback by John Adams in 1976, Once Upon A World has been out of print for the past 15 years. The recordings made by John Le Mesurier back in 1977 have also been gathering dust in Robert Duncan’s attic and until now never enjoyed a commercial release.
Robert Duncan says: “It’s been a long cherished wish of mine that these recordings would see the light of day, and I can’t be more delighted to let people finally hear my stories brought to life by such a beloved comedy talent.”
Andrew Mark Sewell, Managing Director, B7P adds: “The fresh clear style of author Robert Duncan combines superbly with the wry and gentle humour of John Le Mesurier, whose rich English voice brings these timeless stories to life.”
Sewell added that he felt that Once Upon A World would appeal to families both remote from and close to the Christian faith and that it would appeal equally to children, along with many perceptive adults.
